Top 5 favourite SPF’s for this summer
Before you even role your eyes at me and say, I’ve never worn sunscreen and nothing’s ever happened. The issue is it hasn’t happened yet…
Did you know that it can take up as little as 1 hour to burn your skin which can cause further damage to your cells or in return develop skin cancer over time? No you didn’t?
Well I thought so, let’s not waste anymore time and get right into sunscreens and why they are actually very beneficial for you and your skin!
If you also didn’t know sunscreens are usually topical products applied to the skin to protect the skin from harmful UV radiation by absorbing or refracting the rays. There are two categories of sunscreen either chemical or mineral based.
Chemical sunscreen - those absorb high-intensity UV ray
Mineral-based sunscreen - those reflect or scatter UVR (generally these protect against a broader spectrum of rays)
Quick tip mineral-based sunscreens are better for people who have more acne prone skin, so be on the lookout for sunscreens which have niacinamide.
1 - Supergroup Unseen Sunscreen SPF40
Supergoop are one of the familiar sunscreens known by a lot of people and for a good reason. It’s a great sunscreen due to the fact it is totally clear, minimises pores which is great for under makeup and leave the skin feeling soft. However, it is to avoid if you are acne prone due to the fact it has a lot of silicones within it.
2 - Summer Fridays Shadedrops SPF30
Summer Fridays sunscreen is a luxurious type of sunscreen which feels and looks incredible on the skin. It has a very nice milky type of consistency which helps give a soothing effect. Only disadvantage is the price and that it only comes up to SPF 30 which is not the most protective.
3 - Garnier Vitamin C Brightening Fluid Glow
This is currently the sunscreen of the season in 2024, it is available in sheer tint but also in clear. It is great for under makeup as a primer because it has such a nice glow to it enhancing your makeup. Great price, which makes it an affordable product in this economy. If you have oily skin the tinted one might not be great for you as it might cause acne.
4 - Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence
This Japanese sunscreen is a drugstore product available in SPF30 and SPF50 which is great choice for different consumer types. It is popular due to its watery feel, it mimics Japanese skincare. It’s non greasy which helps with oily skin but also doesn’t clog up the skin. Only downside is it’s fragranced so people with sensitive skin can experience some sensitivity problems.
5- Lancaster Sun Protective Water
This sunscreen leaves no trace of existence on the face! It is completely sheer and can be applied on wet skin so meaning on the go. It is very high protection and water resistant so perfect to take on holidays or if you do sports which require water. Perfect sunscreen with a slight price tag on it but in our eyes it’s very worth it!
Pick you player and go and have some fun. Our favourite choice is the Biore UV Aqua Rich sunscreen which is so sheer it feels like water on the skin especially for a price point like that it goes without saying it might be the winner.
